Types of Jewelry Appraisals

Insurance Replacement Appraisal

Most appraisals primarily serve the purpose of insurance replacement. The objective of insurance replacement value appraisals is to compensate for the full value of the item, and as such, insurance appraisals should accurately reflect the realistic cost associated with replacing an item. This ensures that the appraisal aligns with the market value and prevailing prices, providing a reliable basis for insurance coverage that adequately safeguards against potential losses or damages. This is accepted by most insurance companies, but if you need recommendations let us know! Our standard appraisals start at $150 per item, and $90 for the second. You're items may be a bundle deal, depending on the complexity of their nature. For more information and pricing please contact us.

Estate Appraisals

Estate Appraisals are required for a variety of reasons including, estate settlement, loan collateral assessment, divorce, other divisions of assets, reports to assist in tax filing, and equitable distribution for division of collections to family members.

Estate Appraisals usually consist of many pieces, so expect 5-20 pieces to be evaluated per hour. The charge to appraise them is billed on an hourly basis because they are usually quite time consuming. Our rate for Estate Appraisals is $300/hr with a minimum duration of 30 minutes and billed in 30 minute increments. The number of items evaluated per hour can increase or decrease depending on the value and complexity of each piece. For more information please contact us.

Fair Market Value Appraisals

Fair market value appraisals reflect an actual selling price between a willing buyer and seller, when neither is compelled by time or need to buy or sell in the item’s most common market. Fair market value must represent the item’s value in its current (used) condition. Fair market value is generally required for charitable donations and estate appraisals. Fair market values may run lower than retail replacement values, because replacement values often reflect the cost to replace a used item with a new equivalent. FMV Appraisals start at $150 per item.

Gemstone Identification

Gemstone and precious metal identification and authentication is $50 per item. Please note this type of examination does not include an estimation of value or a full appraisal report.
